Flood protection project is developed in order to protect metropolitan area in Prague 1 and Prague 8 (Karlín and Libeň – the waterfront area on the right bank of Vltava, from Hlávkův bridge to Libeňský bridge).

The „flood protection system“ consists of mobile units as well as permanent structures which will protect Prague 8 from 500 - year flood. The height of the protection is 30 cm over the flood level from year 2002. The system shall prevent reversed backwater in the sewage system with consequent flooding of the protected area. Also included are temporary measures for protecting Karlín against the 20 – year flood during the FP system construction.
